![]() ![]() ![]() Probably the song that would become ironically linked to the show. To be honest, I thought the first opening was actually the best they had, at least in terms of the theme song. But if I’m being honest, I hated it the first time I heard it. Obviously not everyone’s going to like it, and if that style of music isn’t your thing, then there’s not much to do about it. I also think the lyrics fit pretty well despite it not being written for the anime. In MHA is the pre-Kamino and post-Kamino and it’s a jarring change. All Might is lost, faith in heroes begins crumbling. In terms from how it fits the material though, I think Odd Future’s jarring sound and change from the previous three openings actually fits perfectly for the arc that changes everything in MHA. Odd Future and Starmaker stand out amongst the average dad rock opening MHA usually has. When every opening has a similar sound they just start to blend together for me. That’s why the JJBA part 4 openings are my favorite. See I like it when anime don’t keep the same styles of music for their openings. And if you haven’t listened to the full version of Odd Future, do it now. Overall: I love Odd Future and Starmaker. Sounds like a JoJo’s opening which would be good for JoJo’s, but it doesn’t fit MHA. I give them credit for trying something different. Big biases here as it’s KANA-BOON and it was the opening for my favorite arc. The guitar’s good, and the vocals aren’t bad. Listening it again while writing this post, and it’s better than my lasting impression of it was though. This one may also be negatively influenced by being over a painful stretch of the series.
